Snowmobile safaris are always popular.Our snow mobile safaris are a nature-based experience filled with fun, action and excitement and are a great way to experience the wilderness in Alta in Arctic Norway. We organise several different types of snowmobile safari, ranging from short trips of a couple of hours duration to safaris lasting several days. We ride on the mountain plateau and can stay overnight in a lavvo (a traditional Sami tent). We recommend a snowmobile adventure stopping at one of the many mountain lakes, which are ideal for fishing. Here, everyone can try ice-fishing and the chances of catching a fish are good. We can warm up in the lavvo (traditional Sami tent) and enjoy a hot lunch here. If we catch fish, we will grill it in the lavvo. It's hard to imagine a lunch fresher than that! We also arrange short trips of 2-3 hours duration. This is a great way to experience driving a snowmobile and, if you are lucky, experience the North Lights at the same time. At the end of the snowmobile trips, you can round it off at the mountain farm, where a hot tub and a delicious dinner awaits. We gladly arrange safaris of several days´ duration with the emphasis on ice fishing. Norway's best Arctic char lake is situated in this area, and it is not uncommon to catch Arctic char here weighing 3-4 kg. We follow a trail through the fantastic nature and the views are amazing. The trip starts down in the pine forest then we rapidly ascend the mountain. We pass several different climatic zones, and end up in extreme high mountainous terrain. The difference in altitude is around 650m and the view from the top is incredible. No other snowmobile safari operator can promise such a view, either here in Norway or in the rest of Europe. You can not even compare this with driving on a flat lake in Northern Finland. |
