Christmas party/ Christmas dinner
Christmas dinner at Ongajoksetra
is a truly enjoyable experience set in idyllic surroundings.
The snow covered valley and the flaming torches outdoors together
with the decorated Christmas tree indoors, surely puts You into
the festive Xmas mood. The dishes are prepared using local ingredients,
and our buffet is one of its kind.
One of the traditional Norwegian Christmas
favourites is pork rib. Our version is made from Boar, and this
meat is much more juicy than the usual pork. Another typical
dish of this season, "Pinnekjøtt" (salted and
dried ribs usually of mutton, soaked and steamed) is made from
wild sheep, Elk or Reindeer at our Mountain Farm.
We make the "Lutefisk" fish dish (cod treated with
lye and served steamed) from scratch, ensuring a much better
quality and taste than the prefabricated ones available at the
food store.
Apart from the abovementioned courses, we serve several types
of hot and cold wild game and fish dishes; such as fish partially
fermented to perfection (delicious!), several types of lavoo
smoked Reindeer and Elk, Atlantic Halibut cured in vodka and
ragout of Hare. These dishes vary according to the availability
of the ingredients.
Dessert buffet
Dessert buffet is a natural part
of a proper Christmas dinner! And our Créme Caramel
with Cognac sauce is simply exquisite!
Coffee and home-made Christmas cakes and cookies are served after
the dinner, accompanied by a nice sigar and Cognac.
